Cleaning windows is a tedious household chore, especially if you have a conservatory with many windows. However, it is recommended to clean them at least once a year to maintain them and to avoid scratches. Andrew Bradley, a professional in the Commercial Cleaning Industry, at Pure Freedom, has shared a “quick and easy” guide to cleaning windows.

To achieve that clean “streak-free” finish, the expert recommended using his 29p cleaning hack.

Andrew said: “You should aim to clean your windows at a minimum once or twice a year depending on location.

“You may need to do this more if you live near the sea where salt exposure is high, or if you live in a city close to busy roads. Follow this quick and easy five step guide.”

Firstly, the expert recommended preparing some vinegar and water. He said Britons can do this by mixing one part of distilled vinegar with 10 parts of warm water.

Place the water and vinegar in a spray bottle which will create the window cleaning solution.

Distilled white vinegar is hailed as a natural, non-toxic cleaning solution, killing some household bacteria and dissolving hard water deposits.

It can also cut through grease and grime such as those found on windows which often build-up during the winter months.

According to the cleaning expert, the product can be picked up for as little as 29p. It is sold in supermarkets such as Sainsbury’s and Asda.

Andrew added: “Then water down the window first to wash off any dirt to avoid scratching the glass when cleaning.

“Cover the surface of the window by spraying the solution directly on the glass.”

Next, begin to dry the window either by using a paper towel or squeegee to unveil streak-free windows.

Lint-free microfibre cloths are also recommended because they are super absorbent, washable and help to leave glass shiny.

Andrew continued: “Do this by having long and even strokes, and go over the window multiple times to clear away any leftover solution.

“Make sure the product you use to wipe the windows doesn’t leave any fibres behind. You will then have clean and shiny streak-free windows.”

Sharing advice on Facebook pages, Mrs Hinch fans often recommend different cleaning hacks, including how to clean windows.

They have also raved about one particular cleaning cloth, the Minky M Cloth for Glass & Window.

Minky, the company behind the bright green cloth says: “M Cloth Glass & Window is made from millions of tightly woven high density microfibres, which quickly remove dirt and grease from windows and other glass surfaces.

“It’s generous size makes light work of large surface areas, leaving a crystal clear finish every time.”

Marigold also have a glass cloth to help achieve streak-free results. The crystal clear window cloth can be used to clean windows, glass top tables inside and out as well as gloss kitchen cupboards and mirrors.

It can be used without any product at all and needs a little bit of water to work.
